Moist heat may bring it to the surface where it can drain spontaneously. However, most will eventually require office based drainage so the abscess core can be removed or they usually return.

If the swelling is an abscess and is really getting larger, it should be seen by a surgeon as it may need " open and drainage " beside taking good broad spectrum antibiotic.
