Any Trauma or Lab work performed ? I would look at a Bone Scan , no offense, since you are female and 40 y/o , for a better rule out on CA, if bone scan shows a hot spot, then further investigation is warrented.

First you need to be seen by your internist (NOT a GP) and depending on the findings of a complete evaluation, you may require referral for a biopsy or further testing. Unless you are a smoker, the probability that this is a malignant problem are relatively low. However, do not wait around hoping it will simply go away. Take care of this problem promptly.
