Seem to be burping a lot & light discomfort in center of chest, could this be heartburn or gas, which ive had problems with in past? scared it could be heart, felt it yesterday for couple of hours, went away, woke up fine &then back this afternoon?

Most likely correct diagnosis GERD as you suspect. Try elevating the feet of the head of your bed 4 -8 inches as gravity never sleeps. Especially if you have problems at night.
