In a normal mouth all teeth are close together. The larger the tooth the more surface area is exposed to develop caries .Bicuspids and molars are the most susceptible. Poor oral hygiene and poor diet can lead to caries on any tooth or interdental areas .Teeth that overlap or crooked are most susceptible since they are harder to clean .Front teeth are easier to clean and by using a soft toothbrush.

Decay is caused by bacteria converting food debris into acids. crowded/crooked teeth are not as easy to clean. Most adult tooth decay, most gum disease, starts between teeth. The more irregular the tooth alignment, the harder it is to remove the bacteria that colonize the spaces between your teeth. Floss daily to reduce risk of cavities or gum disease.
