It is good that you are seeing a doctor. It would be prudent to get rechecked as advised you your doctor. If your heart and valve remain stable, you not need surgery. Wish you good health!

Surgery is not generally recommended unless there is severe mitral regurgitation or rupture of a mitral valve chord. Regularly scheduled follow up visits are recommended, and antibiotics prior to dental and other surgery may be necessary. Surgery does not improve life expectancy unless there is a clearly identified problem. Your doctor will be the best guide regarding lifting heavy objects.
