A member asked:

My husband was diagnosed with lymphedemia. there are no sores on his arm at this time but fluid is dripping from his arm. is it because he is 82 and the skin is thin? the least little bump will tear his skin but there isnt a tear now?

What causes his arm lymphedema? Did he have extensive surgery or radiation on his shoulder, arm pit or thorax before? Is the lymphedema secondary to his vein problem (venous stenosis) or lymph node disease? If there is primary problem, taking care the cause will solve the problem. Otherwise, exercise, massage, arm wrapping, pneumatic compression, compression garment are symptomatic treatments.

Dripping fluid from an arm or leg is never due to just aging.. Is it on right or left arm? Different things can cause this on each arm. Discuss with your Dr. again. Were any xrays/ultra sounds done?
