I take nuvigil for adhd and it is not effective. i want to stop. do i need to taper? doctors have said no need to taper, but i have read anecdotal reports online of withdrawal symptoms..?

Nuvigil may develop tolerance or may immediately fail. Several other choices exist. Would taper over 7-10 days, as sudden cessation will adversely affect your sleep pattern, but this will not be like a narcotic withdrawal at all. Work with your doctor to stop Nuvigil and find a substitute.

I alway recommend tapering to prevent abrupt change affecting your nervous system. Depending on your dose, you could lower the dose by 50 mg every 3 to 4 days or so.
