Ovarian cysts are common, and can arise from failed ovulation, endometriosis, as well as less commonly, abnormal cell growth. If the cysts are in general shown as non-complex, and are under 10 cm in size, they will often resolve spontaneously. If complex on ultrasound, biopsy is recommended. Suppression of cyst formation is achieved with oral contraceptive pill use.
