The cause of sudden sensorineural hearing loss is very elusive and unknown in the great majority of cases.Corticosteroids are usually prescribed. If hearing doesn't return after a few weeks , hearing aids or cochlear implants may be recommended. I recommend consulting a specialist in sensorineural hearing loss at a university hospital department of otolaryngology near you for a second opinion.

More often than not, the cause is elusive. In some cases, this may be viral and in others vascular. This has been seen rarely in MS where an anatomical lesion can be visualized on an MRI. The prognosis, likewise, is often not clear, but some cases improve over time. Agree that best evaluation can be found at medical school otolaryngology.
