I was prescribed buspirone as a as needed basis. i questioned this and told it was fast acting and would help anxiety symptoms in the moment but for on going therapeutic effectiveness it would be prescribed as a routine medication. is this true?

Buspirone is approved for anxiety treatment starting at 7.5mg twice a day and increasing the dose up to a max dose of 60mg total. It achieves peak concentration in blood in 40 to 90 minutes. It is also often prescribed as needed for anxiety and it is safer than benzodiazepines.
