A member asked:

Is some level of atherosclerosis normal once you're over 40? would an incidental finding of "very minimal atherosclerosis" be cause for concern in one's mid-late 40s and does it require treatment?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Minimal atherosclerosis is not a dangerous sign. However you don’t want it to progress further. Would recommend getting lipid panel and make sure they are within normal limits. Abnormal lipids, uncontrolled hypertension, diabetes, and smoking can worsen atherosclerosis.
