A member asked:

Can you take prometrium (progesterone 200 mg) during the ovulation phase only for periods safely until you reach menopause the same way that some women take birth control pills until reaching menopause?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Prometrium or any progesterone analog is a statistically successful contraceptive, and Nexplanon implants or the "minipill" (containing NO estrogen) may be a good compromise for birth control w/o using oral BCP's. The pregnancy rate is only slightly less than oral contraceptive pills with estrogen/progesterone components.
