Are you sure .77 cm not 7.7 cm? If it is .77 cm, the aorta size is quite small, regardless of what part of the aorta for an adult woman. Congenital malformation of the aorta can cause this small aorta such as coarctation of the aorta. If the size is 7.7 cm, it is too big, surgery is indicated.

Without the complete medical history and medical course, it is difficult to give a meaningful answer. Normal aortic ranges are: Root 3.5–3.91 Ascending 2.86 Mid Descending 2.39–2.64 Diaphragmatic 2.43-2.69. Since you did not specify if this is the aortic wall or diameter or where along the aorta this was measured, cannot comment further. Talk to the ordering Dr for clarification in your situation.
