Can amyloidosis occur in the lacrimal gland & cause swelling? 3mos of unilateral (left eye) slight swelling(no increase) but no pain & its soft, discomfort in the eye. already have macular amyloidosis. doctor says the eye is fine. confused?

Though rare amyloidosis can occur in the lacrimal gland. Causes swelling in upper outer portion of the upper lid. Diagnosis requires a biopsy. Your ophthalmologist can determine if the lacrimal gland is involved and what if anything is necessary .
