Methamphetamines are neurotoxic and can cause inflammation in various body organ systems including the brain, heart, kidneys and liver. In a person with uncontrolled/poorly controlled diabetes, there is already inflammation and capillary damage to many of these same organ systems so meth will worsen already existing problems and may lead to retinopathy, neuropathy and kidney failure more quickly.
