Where is the spasm?: Skeletal muscle spasms are caused by involuntary and sustained muscle contractions. They can be acute or chronic, interment or constant. Sometime we don't know why a muscle is in spasm. Often it is followed by an antecedence sprain and the sprain does not have to be acute. Generally speaking, they are do to intrinsic or extrinsic disturbance of one component of neuro-musculo-skeletal systems.
