I started lifting weights again after a long break and i went from 172 to 180 in one month. is this normal? i've been eating more but have had my calories below 2000. i'm 5'10 and often drink a lot of water?

You may have gained weight if 2000 ca!ories a day is more than you used to eat. Also your calorie count may not be precise. Building muscle from the lifting can add weight especially if your workouts are more isometric than isotonic meaning that they're not particularly aerobic.
