A member asked:

I have a large hole on one of my tonsils and on the inside it appears to be blue tissue. is it normal to see blue tissue inside a tonsil crypt? usually they just look like little black holes right?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A plexus is a group of veins and are within the tonsillar tissue. These drain blood into the jugular venous system and I assume the blue tissue you're referring to are veins within the tonsil crypts containing unoxygenated blood.
