A member asked:

Possible to have vertibrae irregularities and pain typical of bertolotti syndrome but it just be vertibrae rotation from a car crash causing l5 pain and not actual bertolotti's, just looks like it based on symptoms?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bertolotti's syndrome involves sacralization of the lowest lumbar vertebrae, and affects a small percentage of younger folks. Low back pain can be caused by many mechanisms, but imaging should rule in or out Bertolotti's. Clinical symptoms are too nonspecific.
