.: 9 hours of sleep should be ok for teenager. But if you have frequent waking spells follow general sleep hygiene - decrease caffiene drinks, don't exercise immediately before sleep, have regular sleep time. No tv or music in room while you sleep. Nothing to distract you. More over you may need to be checked to see if you have any medical problems like sleep apnea or enlarged tonsils or adenoid etc.
