A member asked:

One side of upmost finger joint slightly swollen and bruise-like, both gone down over the last few days. can move and bend finger just fine, pain only when pressing it. possibly from using it on something that needed pressure to lock multiple times?

This sounds most consistent with a reactive arthritis from trauma. It usually goes away in 5 to 14 days. It usually has no lasting residual problems associated with it. If it persists beyond that point in time, it could be a ganglion cyst. You would only need to see a hand surgeon if it remains troubling and persistent.
