The vaccines in the US are effective at preventing death or hospitalization and this effect extends to the delta variant. However, a vaccinated individual can become infected with the delta variant and while will not get sick, can share the virus with others, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated. Generally the disease will be milder in vaccinated individuals.
