A member asked:

Is a b12 serum level of 1,200 cause for concern? first time its been elevated, and nothing else in labs were elevated or low was on b12 supplement 2 months prior to labs being drawn (and i am a bariatric patient?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, elevated B12 is an indication of inflammation and obesity can be the cause of inflammation. Wish you good health!
