To treat insomnia we always try to avoid pill first, emphasizing in behavior therapy. You only try drug if you failed behavior therapy. The antihistamine effect of Propovan is used to treat insomnia and that's why you felt tired the next day. Miancerin is an antidepressant medication so I wonder if your insomnia is related to depression. In general, you can change whatever med that works for you.
