Dr i'm worried. i accidentally lighted up the flash light of my smartphone in front of my baby daughter of 17 days old in a dark room for maybe a second or two. she had her eyes wide open. can it harm her eyes?

It is a bright light and shining the light directly at your baby is not advisable. For a brief second, there should be no long term effect. Watch for redness, swelling and discharge from the eye. Please follow up with your Pediatrician.
