Yes: After a major bone breakage requiring "hardware", it is normal to develop arthritis in that area. However if this a new finding, or very painful, check in with a hand orthopedic specialist to assure ourself that all remains well with the joint.

Hardware pain: If hardware is pushed on hard enough it would not be unusual for it to be uncomfortable. If the symptoms are present with normal daily use i would consult with an orthopedic surgeon to see if the hardware potentially is damaging adjacent structures and needs to be removed.
