No, that steroid cream is only used if you have contact dermatitis from the jewelry. With the ear pain and if the pain can be elicited with pulling the earlobe down you may have external otitis or a pimple. You can take acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain + antibiotic ear drop or oral antibiotic. Pain due to piercing and jewelry is usually associated with local redness +/- exudate.
