A member asked:

I had a hida scan - focal increase of hepatic intake in right lobe and told to look for space occupying lesions.( im 27, slightly overweight and have had digestive problems since childhood.) curious as to what that all could mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

In this situation the ordering physician should sit down with the radiologist & ask what that finding could indicate, whether any other studies like CT scan, MRI or liver biopsy would shed any more light on the diagnosis or what consultant is advisable. The liver uptake in a hida scan should be uniform and I think the focal uptake could indicate a growth, benign or malignant.
