My mammogram report stated asymmetry in the superior aspect of the middle third of the left breast on the mlo view only. summation artifact is suspected. i have to have another mammogram and an ultrasound done. what does that mean?

translation= the study was not conclusive and minor irregularities could not be evaluated further since there was no previous study to refer to. The basic meaning is they want another study because this was not considered clear enough to call absolutely normal. It is a common thing for them to ask for repeats.
