So called "hot flashes" are common just prior to onset of a period, and are caused by rapid drops in estrogen. On the described occasion, you may have had two eggs ovulate, which created a much higher pre-menstrual level of estrogen, and the drop in estrogen may have been high enough to cause a "hot flash", which happens frequently for some (not yourself !) women at menopause.
