My mom has high alt 44/ast 62 she is a never drinker. she does not have her gallbladder. routine cbc showed these levels. she had follow up blood test and they are still elevated. cancer? she does take tylenol for leg pain from time to time. age 73?

Abnormal liver enzymes can be a sign of an abnormality. If a repeat test is still abnormal you should seek a medical evaluation which may include a more thorough history, physical exam , bloodwork and imaging studies.

Cancer is (very) unlikely. Could be NASH (non-alcoholic hepatic steatosis - fatty infiltrate in the liver), maybe too much Tylenol or any one of a hundred other conditions. These are mild elevations, does not appear very severe. Have her see a liver specialist (Hepatologist) to further evaluate.
