A member asked:

150/100 bp at dr's office digital and manual monitor used 134/86 bp at home (taken in a wrists monitor) ... why the big difference? i'm 46 y/o female (i'm not diagnosed with hypertension) but today dr. decided to monitor me for a week. medication?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I'm not a fan of wrist blood pressure monitors as the most accurate measurements are measured with the upper arm cuffs. Did the doctor or nurse check your reading against their cuff reading simultaneously& determine if your monitor was accurate? Even so your home reading if 134/86 is high enough to institute life style changes of attaining ideal weight, avoiding excess salt, caffeine, alcohol, etc
