Should i use steroids to help heal lichenification of the skin from eczema and/or scratching, or just use moisturizers and/or vaseline to heal it naturally over weeks or months?

A short course of strong topical steroids may relieve the itching because scratching may it worse. Treat or avoid the underlying cause of eczema, e.g. contact dermatitis, avoid scratching which is the hardest task, keep fingernails extra short, and using moisturizer.
