The advice your dentist gave you was excellent. The biggest concern is if you are in pain or is your motion limited? If so, seek the advice of an oral surgeon, someone who can assess your condition and determine if there is an actual issue with your joint.

Are you wearing an Orthodontic retainer or a night guard? In either case an adjustment/replacement may be inn order. If you have a malocclusion that could be causing or contributing to your TMD. As part of your investigation it would be prudent to see an Oral Surgeon and an Orthodontist. Joint dysfunction is complex, often requiring multi-specialty coordinated treatment.
