Prolonged bleeding with clots in a sexually inactive female may be caused by delayed ovulation with prolonged estrogen stimulation of the uterine lining with breakdown of the endometrial cells, or fibroid tumors, polyps . See your gyn physician for an exam and further testing (ultrasound).
