A member asked:

I'm 37. i have recently developed some back issues all somewhat mild ;(mild diffuse) ddd, some arthritis and bertolotti's. is it worth taking a joint supplement now for support. to try and keep what i have as healthy as i can?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Joint supplements might help but a more significant cause of joint deterioration is loss of stabilization as the joint's supporting structures (muscles, ligaments & tendons) weaken or fail to support. Additionally, as most people age they loose muscle mass and fail to exercise to a level necessary to maintain these structures. Mobilization, strengthening, & stretching would be far more effective.
