Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common disorder that affects the large intestine. Signs and symptoms include cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, gas, and diarrhea or constipation, or both. Cause is unknown, but triggers include food allergies/intolerance and stress. It is not a mental disorder. A Dr can do a complete physical exam/testing to rule out other causes.
