A member asked:

My test results stated that i had multiple restriction bands in my oligoclonal bands (igg) test & and in my serum. there was no number given. is this considered normal? thank you?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It can be normal. During immune response, body makes different types of antibodies and some of those may present as distinct low level bands on protein electrophoresis. Do discuss it with your doctor to ascertain if a repeat test in 6 months to a year is advisable. Do not confuse this with oligoclonal bands in cerebrospinal fluid. Wish you good health!
