A member asked:

I had a vp shunt placed 3 days ago for hydrocephalus how long does it take for the soreness and abdominal incision to heal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually gradually improves and disappears over 5-7 days. Very rarely you can get an infection over the abdominal incision (very rarely) in which case the abdominal wound will progressively get more red, warm and/or swollen, sometimes with drainage. Again, very uncommon
