Real & controversial: There is a huge divide here. Most infectious disease specialists believe chronic lyme doesn't exist while ilads, a group of docs who specialize in lyme, strongly believes in it. I have many patients suffering from chronic lyme.See http://www.Hindawi.Com/journals/ipid/2010/876450/ and http://www.Ilads.Org/lyme_research/chronic_lyme.Html and http://columbia-lyme.Org/patients/ld_chronic.Html.

It does not exist: I personally believe that it does not exist. Most patient i see who carry this diagnosis actually have other diseases such as fibromyalgia. The trouble is that most "lyme specialists" are not specialists of anything. They dupe patients into taking antibiotic after antibiotic without any improvement.
