Treats Babesia not L: Atovaquone (mepron) is not effective for treating borrelia, the lyme bacteria. However, up to 70% of those with chronic lyme have babesiosis, a co-infection, and Atovaquone is the "drug of choice" for this. Successful treatment of chronic lyme requires treating co-infections like babesia & bartonella. There are natural alternatives to Atovaquone but that drug is relatively safe & effective.
