A member asked:

Can you get cataracts for using azelastine 0.1 % nasal spray daily during the allergy seasons (~3 months)?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Azelastine is histamine 1 receptor antagonist. It’s side effects are drowsiness, and bitter taste in mouth. Less common are nosebleeds, headache, dizziness, blurred vision, eye pain, eye redness, rapid heart beat, and trouble breathing. I did not find cataract being caused by azelastine in literature. Periodic eye exam should be done as part of regular healthcare. Hope it helps.
