No: Astelin nasal spray is not addictive like some other medications. It is a topical antihistamine spray that can provide relief for patients with symptoms of chronic rhinitis, such as sneezing, runny nose, postnasal drip, and nasal congestion.

No: Astelin is an antihistamine nasal spray that works within 1-2 days to provide symptom relief of nasal congestion, post nasal drip, and sneeze. It is not a decongestant like afrin and will not cause worsening of nasal symptoms when stopped. I have found it helpful for both allergic and non-allergic causes of nasal inflammation. Unlike a nasal steroid, you can use it as needed.
