A member asked:

I'd like to know about 3t thin slice mri of the pituitary. the neurosurgeon said he needs that instead of the regular 1.5t mri. is this other mri truly necessary? is the extra expense worth it or should i get a 2nd opinion? what's best for surgery?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The neurosurgeon has requested higher resolution study as suspected pituitary problem needs more precise views. Cannot advise about expense or additional opinions, but if you lack confidence, you could do a "2nd opinion" on HealthTap, via virtual consult on our paid portion of the website.
