if the swelling is intermittent and occurs when you eat the swelling may be related to a salivary duct stone. when you eat the salivary gland secrets saliva in an attempt to digest food. Due to the stone blocking the secretion from the gland it will swell up and cause pain. You need to drink a lot of fluids, massage the gland and need an antibiotic

A complete blood count, chest image may be indicated. Allergic asthma is one possible cause, but difficulty swallowing is one sign of an allergic reaction. Avoid smoke and allergen exposure, discuss an antihistamine and asthma evaluation. Please see your PCP. Monitor your temperature.
