Does redness around a wound mean infection?

Maybe/not. The redness may mean infection but it can also be part of the healing process. If there is discharge or increasing discomfort it would more likely be infection. I would contact your doc and discuss your observations for guidance on what to do.

Agree with Dr. Ferguson: If you have pain, purulent discharge, fever or an enlarging lesion, that would indicate infection. A healing wound is not painful, but may have itching. Wish you good health!
