Possibly: Only a visual inspection with cultures will reveal the true nature of what's going on but my money would be on an infectious entity with what you're saying. Get an appointment back with the doctor who did the surgery and see how he/she wants to approach things.

Seroma: Most likely this is a seroma, a fluid collection in the cavity created by the removal of the cyst. you should go back to the surgeon that performed it and have them look at it. These can get infected and they can be nasty.
