I took my vaccinated dog for a walk yesterday and she licked a container of food that was forgotten by the trash men. i am concerned because she then licked me and my family. what if a wild/rabid animal licked it first? can this give us rabies?

No, rabies is not possible in above mentioned scenario. Hand hygiene remains critical as other more commonly seen infections transmitted through contaminated/dirty hands become possible.
