A member asked:

Yesterday i was accidentally scratched very lightly by a stray cat, and it drew the smallest amount of blood. the cat appeared healthy and normal. should i be concerned about rabies or go get a vaccination?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe, maybe not: Rabies transmission from pets is rare but feral cats may be infected.A call to your local health department can let you know if if rabies is active in your region & the animals involved. They can also direct you to a source of the vaccine if it is needed. The cdc website also has information on rabies that may be helpful.www.cdc.gov.
