I am putting together a school presentation on heart disease and have some questions. what are the main causes of heart disease? is it genetic? can it be treated once developed? how can it be detected? what happens if it goes unnoticed?

Inherited cardiac diseaae are familial hypertrophic and dilated cardiomyopathy and familial hypercholesterolemia. Congenital heart disease is present at birth and it is a development defect. Diagnosis of heart disease is by symptoms, signs, ekg, echo cardiographs and cardiac catheterization. Most of the defects can be treated surgically. Coronary artery disease is managed by cardiologist. Helps?
